The Hon. J Alvin Christopher grew up in Anderson Hill, Brewers Bay and has long been a political activist, quietly effecting change without, “tooting his own Horn”.
His political career began in February, 1995 when he won his first bid for electoral office in the Second District, having run as independent. He was later appointed Minister of Communications and Works, which initiated his formal association with the Virgin Islands Party. He remained Minister of Communications and Works until 2002.
The Hon. J. Alvin Christopher is not the typical politician, one given to lengthy speeches and self promotion. He is a man of strong humility and gentle character, one who is adept to identifying problems within the community and quick to formulate an action plan.
His mission for the second district is to continue to provide opportunities so that both residential and economic based communities can co-exist harmoniously; enabling this generation and generations to come will be able to live, work and play.
He also endeavours to provide honest and fair leadership, an un-biased support for all. He ensures that the Second District is included in all development plans and policies of these Virgin Islands.
